What is Jitterbugs?
We offer ‘Parent (or Ayi!) & Tot’ style classes packed full of exciting music, movement and fun! We know life with little ones can be unpredictable, so there’s no commitment or reservations necessary! Just drop in when it works for you!
Our 45 minute classes are informal, energetic and full of opportunities for your little one to explore new movements, socialize, dance and play! We know our little wiggle worms can’t sit still for long and have lots of energy to burn, so we encourage them to move around the room, interact with each other, be creative with their movements and of course… HAVE FUN! Our catchy Jitterbugs tunes will quickly become your family’s favorites and you’ll be ‘Driving your cars’ and ‘Shaking your sillies out’ all throughout the day!
At Jitterbugs your little one will learn :

Either my Ayi or I take my youngest daughter (1yr) to Jitterbugs once or twice a week and it really is a highlight for us. She loves the songs and “sings” along while dancing and clapping and generally having a great time. The teachers clearly love little ones and involve them in all the activities. We go to ladybugs and it’s pitched just right for the pre-walkers and it’s great to have a separate class for the younger kids. You can tell how much my little girl loves it that she both crawled and stood unassisted for the first time in class! I would highly recommend Jitterbugs to anyone looking for some gentle music and play fun for their little ones.

We almost never miss Jitterbugs. Every week we go to the same Ladybugs class and we’ve both made some great friends through that. Harry has learned so much through observing the other kids; it’s so common to hear one of the mothers say “he/she’s never done that before!” during a class. We practice the songs at home and break out them out in emergencies (like going nuts in the car!) We’re really lucky to have something like this in Shanghai.

When we first moved to Shanghai and Edith had just turned 2, Jitterbugs was the place where we started to meet other kids and mums. She’s now almost 3 and still loves the classes and I’ve seen a huge development in how she now can follow the movements and sing along, and she’s learned some English in the same time! I particularly like Jitterbugs because of the flexible schedule and engaged teachers, and how it’s an easy way for me to have fun with my kids.

My 18-month old son has been going to Jitterbugs since he was six months old. He goes to Jitterbugs three times per week and he loves it!I am from the USA and my husband is from Ireland, we were not sure what things would be available for babies and small children in Shanghai. We are so grateful to have found Jitterbugs. My son has learned many skills from attending the classes at Jitterbugs. He has learned how to follow directions, tidy-up his toys, social skills, and many more skills all while having fun. As a teacher myself I really appreciate the things my son has learned at Jitterbugs all while singing, dancing and playing. It is also clear that the instructors love working with children. They greet each child by his or her name and with great enthusiasm. I would highly recommend Jitterbugs to any parent looking for something fun and engaging to do with their children. Children also attend Jitterbugs with their Ayi, which is also a nice option.
